Father and sonAbout the Early Childhood Partnership of Mat-Su

The Early Childhood Partnership of Mat-Su is a Best Beginnings group focused on serving young children and their families. The partnership has been in existence since 2009 and developed a community-wide strategic plan to mobilize people and resources to ensure all children in the Mat-Su begin school ready to succeed.

Most recently, we have been focused on engaging families and involving them in young children’s learning, fostering community recognition of the importance and value of early childhood education, providing resources to providers and early childcare teachers for professional development opportunities, supplying new materials and supplies, creating a new website, hosting family fun events and distributing information and resources for families and providers.

Extensive research shows investments made in young children increase the chance of their success in school and in life. For older children, the K-12 school system provides the structure and coordination; however, there is no comparable structure to coordinate resources and services for early childhood. The Early Childhood Partnership of Mat-Su will help our early childhood community work together more effectively, make better use of resources, and provide better services to our youngest residents.

Recognize Outstanding Early Childhood People and Businesses In Our Community

The Early Childhood Partnership of Mat-Su’s Golden Apple Awards are just around the corner and we need your help to spread the word to get local early childhood teachers, facilities, and businesses nominated for these prestigious awards. There are two different types of Awards being presented:

Service Provider:

Recognizes local early childhood teachers, child care facilities, and champions for kids that make meaningful contributions to achievement and personal growth for our youngest citizens! Nominees will have demonstrated a strong commitment to a quality early childhood education and/or a dedication to making a positive contribution to the children they serve. To nominate a facility, teacher or champion, complete the Service Provider Nomination Form.

Family Friendly Business:

Recognizes local employers who help their employees balance work and family responsibilities and places that cater to young children. Not only does a “family friendly” philosophy create a more productive work environment and greater employee loyalty and morale, it also contributes to families raising children that become better students and citizens. To nominate a business, organization, or employer, complete the Family Friendly Business Nomination Form.

Nomination Deadline: Friday, March 30th, 2012 at 5:00 pm.
